Hostel Penedes

The rooms were clean, spacious, and very affordable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a good time and would recommend it. Don’t expect luxury, but it’s very good value for money.

It was hard to find, and the building felt run down and maze-like, with odd bits of old furniture in the corridors and an antique lift. The listing said parking was available, but it’s at the local bus station, which gets very busy. The portable A/C was really noisy. There was a lot of street noise from traffic and people passing by, and the pizzeria opposite kept the rooms bright all night. Bring earplugs and an eye mask. My toilet flush broke after one use, so I was moved to another room. The studio was fairly spacious, but the bathroom was tiny, and neither door lock worked well.

After my stay, I emailed Hostel Penedes to ask for a receipt in the format Booking.com required so I could get a refund. Booking.com had messed up my earlier booking that day and offered a full refund on the new one to make up for it. The next day, Hostel Penedes replied only, “¡No hay problema!” They didn’t follow up, so I wrote again two, five, and eight days later. Their reply was again just “¡No hay problema!” I told them I’d leave a poor review if they didn’t send the receipt. The next day, they responded in French and threatened to take action to get me banned from Booking.com if I left a poor review. What?! I’ve never been treated worse by a hotel. Horrible customer service and threats like this should not be allowed on Booking.com. Avoid Hostel Penedes at all cost!

Very cheap and especially good for young people. It’s clean and peaceful, with a kitchen, Wi-Fi, smart TV, and everything you need for a good vacation. The service is excellent. Whenever I’m in Penedès for business, this is my best choice. I hope I can come back soon and enjoy this lovely wine region again.
