Posada Esmorga del Mar is in a great location, and waking up to the view of the bay of Carril was a real treat. The owner said it would feel like home, and it did. We were warmly welcomed and looked after by the owner and employees, and the service was amazing. I highly recommend staying here on vacation or while visiting the Galicia region.

We had a lovely meal outside on the terrace, with a sea view. The caramelised calamari was the highlight, almost heavenly, and the octopus was tender and sweet. The clams were delicious with Galician bread to soak up their sauce. Great wine selection too, and the service was great. We’ll definitely be back!

After reading mixed reviews, we kept our order simple and the food was great. The tuna salad, padron peppers, baby squid and asparagus were all fresh and good. The view is a real plus, and the prices are reasonable. Coffee was good too, though we didn’t try dessert.

This is only about the restaurant. We were two, and the second person’s dish arrived late, after the first person had finished eating. The waitress was rude and her unfriendly treatment spoiled our evening. The cockles / berberechos portion was ridiculously small, 30 tiny shellfish, each about 1.5 cm across, presented as a full meal (ratión) for one person. It felt more like tapas, but we were charged the ratión price of €16. Avoid this restaurant.

A nice clean spot in the old fisherman's village, right by the sea. We stopped for morning coffee and got good attention.
