Ca L'Esquelleta

The private garden is beautiful, and the owners, especially Ruth, are very friendly and attentive. There are some great hiking trails nearby. The old house has been charmingly renovated and sits right in the village center. Just be aware that there are lots of stairs and the bathroom is on the first floor, so it’s not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The garden and outdoor spaces really helped me disconnect. I was looking for a rural place in Tarragona with a natural setting, and this one captivated me. Communication with the team was excellent, 10 out of 10!

The house is well cared for and tastefully decorated, and Ruth was a lovely, attentive host. We had a wonderful family stay. It’s ideally located for exploring the region, and having a pool in the garden or using the municipal pool was a big plus for relaxing at the end of the day. One small thing we hadn’t noticed is that the house has four floors, which could be tricky with children, but we managed!

It’s a shame, because the house itself is beautiful and well maintained, but our experience was awful. We rented it for one day to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday, with 10 of us sleeping there. Five more people came in the afternoon just to celebrate with us. The owner and her husband came out and spoke to us very rudely, complained, and threatened us by saying what we were doing wasn’t legal. Is it really impossible to have five visitors over to celebrate a birthday peacefully? The owner lives right next door in the same building, and spends all her time watching from the window. It felt uncomfortable, with very little privacy. You can’t speak to guests so arrogantly and treat them that way without justification. We understand they may have had bad experiences, but that doesn’t make it okay to monitor guests or act like this. I’ve been traveling and renting apartments and houses for over 10 years and have never had this happen before. The owner and her husband ruined the birthday and completely killed the good vibes.
