Hotel Rural Terrablanca

The staff were really friendly and around whenever needed, and it was excellent value. We liked having our own entrance straight into the room. The rooms are quite small and basic, but they suited what we needed. It’s dog friendly, with an easy 1 km walk into town, where the bars also welcome dogs. We were offered a garden-facing room and probably should have taken it, since it gets more sun and has a nicer terrace.

The rooms and bathrooms were super clean, and check-in was easy with plenty of parking. Hotel Rural Terrablanca is a pleasant farm hotel not far from the border, with the facilities you need. It seems well suited to families, especially with the trampoline. Breakfast was a generous buffet, and Mrs. Sandra was polite and made sure it was filling, a great start to the day. In winter, I’d recommend booking a room overlooking the pool or garden, since the rooms at the back get little sun and can be humid.

The shower worked fine, but beyond being given a room there was basically no service. We chose the hotel after seeing reviews on our booking app saying breakfast was included and the staff were friendly. That wasn’t what we found: there was no breakfast despite the promise, and the internet mostly didn’t work. The walls are so thin you can hear people three rooms away. I won’t come back.

It was really hard to communicate in English, and for the money I paid in late July I expected much more. The rooms and restaurant had a damp smell, like they’d been reopened after a century. Some equipment in the rooms and around the pools was old and rusty, and the place badly needs renovating. There isn’t much nearby for food, shopping, or entertainment, and the sea is over 20 minutes away by car. The road from the nearest village also felt a bit risky unless you’re driving an off-road vehicle. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
