We ended up relieved to have escaped this place. What little we saw inside looked dark, musty, and dirty, and later we read reviews mentioning bedbugs. We booked another clean albergue down the road, and Booking.com refunded us. I also noticed this albergue was no longer listed there. We had paid through Booking.com and arrived at the advertised check-in time of 12pm, tired and hoping to shower. Nobody answered the door or the number posted there. At 2pm the owner arrived by car, opened the door, shut it in our faces, and shouted at us. We politely explained through Google translate that we had paid for a room, but she kept yelling in Spanish so quickly and loudly that we couldn't understand why she wouldn't let us in. As she went back to the car, someone was waiting to drive her away. She slammed the door and they sped off, nearly running over my foot. She was the rudest albergue owner we met on the entire Camino Frances. I can only imagine the positive reviews here are fake. There should be a zero-star option. Avoid at all costs.
The large garden was nice, and the place was clean, with a warm blanket provided. But the downstairs dorm was gloomy and dark. The man working there was unfriendly and rude, and didn't explain the rules clearly. I couldn't find a kitchen, kettle, or even a tap for drinking water, despite thinking a kitchen was advertised. I probably wouldn't stay again.
The room looked nice and the woman running the hostel was kind, which made this such a shame. But there are definitely bedbugs here, and you'll get them if you stay. I left late in the evening because I didn't want to deal with bites and hitchhiking bedbugs. I was walking El Camino de Santiago and had chosen to stay here.
The room had good wifi, and it was so quiet that all I could hear were birds. I stayed in a 10 person shared room with two full private bathrooms that lock. Each bunk had an outlet with a phone holder, and sheets, pillowcases, and blankets were provided. There was a microwave, fridge, and plates and utensils, but no kitchen sink or stove. Outside, the lovely large seating area had a laundry sink and machines, plus plenty of room to hang clothes. The only issue was that the hot water sometimes turned cold while I was showering.
Such a lovely, quiet place, with a private garden and beautiful decor. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, and welcoming. Sonia, the hospitalera and owner, is clearly proud of her gorgeous place and takes good care of her guests. Don't hesitate to book.
