Mayor 7 by Seaward Suites

The good bits first: the accommodation is well placed in the old town, not far from the beach or tram stops. We got into our room before the usual check-in time, the beds are comfortable, and breakfast is pretty decent when it actually turns up. Breakfast was a mess during our stay. We were told to go to the Old Town cafe opposite, between 9 and 11. It didn't open until 9:30 on day one, then wasn't open at all on day two, even after we waited until 10. They sent us to the Monte cafe around the corner instead, where the breakfast was better. We went back there on day three. We were promised a refund for the second morning's mix-up, but two weeks later we're still waiting. There have been plenty of polite messages from the accommodation provider, but no refund. The room has almost no privacy from your travelling companion: the toilet and shower are behind glass doors, in direct view from the bed. Our safe didn't work, and neither did our friend's safe in the next room. They said they'd fix ours, but never did, so we had to carry our valuables around and couldn't go swimming together. The room cleaning was poor too. On the first day it was serviced as expected. On day two they only straightened the quilts and brought fresh towels, and there was quite a bit of dust. We were told reception was at their sister accommodation across the square, open from 9 to 17 each day. No one was there until 9:10 on the first day, and at 10 on the second day it was still unmanned. While we waited, the place felt neglected: half the fresh flowers by the counter were dead, the bin by the coffee machine was overflowing, and dirty cups from the previous day were still on the counter. When we sent questions or concerns on WhatsApp, an AI bot replied. A lot of the answers were gibberish, and others were in the wrong language. It really didn't make it seem like they cared about their customers. With a few changes this could be a decent place, but right now it's slapshod and disorganized. Management need to get a grip and sort it out before it's too late.
