Hostal Gastrobar Carmelo

The waitress was charming and so helpful, and the food was beautifully put together. My wife loved her gazpacho, and my simple cheese bocadillo was the best I’ve had. We’d stopped in town for petrol and chose Carmelo for a light lunch. You can tell as soon as you walk in that it’s good. We paid a bit extra for the quality, and it was worth it. We’d come back if we’re nearby, this time for a proper meal.

The decor is gorgeous, and the woman serving us was really friendly and helpful, especially since we didn’t want the usual weekend menu of the day. We stopped for lunch on the way from Segovia to Granada province, looking for somewhere near the main route, and were glad we did. I had the delicious watermelon gazpacho. My husband’s cheese and tomato bocadillo was the tastiest he’s ever had.

We’ve only had breakfast here, the usual toast and coffee. The menu was okay, and the price was € . What I really like is all the sunlight on the veranda. There’s plenty of space, so it works well for groups.

Everyone on staff was welcoming, cheerful, and helpful, and the place was very clean. We were tired and hungry after a long drive, but the kitchen was closed that afternoon. We couldn’t get anything, not even a small snack or some ham, which was a shame. We’d still return. ☺️
