Casa Rural El Quemao

The town is really pretty, though finding somewhere for dinner during the week is the one drawback. Still, I’m planning to return to the area and this house. The rooms are roomy, each has its own bathroom, and the shared spaces are lovely. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the price was fair. The washing machine came in handy on a long trip. Breakfast is worth having too, with fresh orange juice, toast, and homemade cake. Thanks so much for everything!

The stay left us with a bitter feeling, and I won't be coming back. I was there for one night with my son. At first the owner was attentive and put us in a room downstairs. It was a little cold at night, though the beds were comfortable. The real problem started at 6:30 in the morning, when noise from the pipes and the upstairs kitchen tap pressure woke us with a start. There was more noise from the kitchen, people on the wooden stairs, and a lot of banging while the other guests had breakfast. At breakfast I told the owner we hadn't been able to sleep or rest properly. I thought she could at least have let us sleep until 8 or 9 without the noise. She apologized, then mentioned she wanted to get up early and close the place so she could go to Soria for something. I can only assume she wanted us, the last guests there, to wake up and leave early so she could get on with her own business. Breakfast was also expensive at €6 each for hot chocolate, juice, and toast. The experience wasn't good, and offering breakfast on the house for the trouble would have been the least she could do, but that didn't happen. This was unacceptable. If you run a place like this, you should look after your guests until it's time for them to get up and avoid making noise.

Amparo is very welcoming and friendly, and you can arrange breakfast with her to eat at the house. The value for money is excellent, and the location makes it easy to head into the mountains or explore the charming medieval village, with its steep lanes and stone farmhouses bearing noble coats of arms. The rooms are in part of an 18th-century stone building in Villoslada de Cameros, La Rioja. It’s a rural guesthouse with some shared areas, including a fireplace in the living room. Inside, everything has a rustic look and is kept very tidy and clean.

In just two days, Amparo makes you feel at home. She's the owner, and an absolute sweetheart, warm, kind, and so attentive that I can't put into words how wonderful she is. The bed is made every day, and done perfectly. Thank you! I still have to try her cake and amazing breakfast. We'll come back to enjoy her home and warm personality, and to see her again.
