The conversations about the Camino were pure magic for me, and the hosts were so kind. I felt like I was at my grandmother’s home, with home-cooked meals and an old fireplace in the bedroom. Plenty of people skip this town, but I was glad I didn’t. It was one of my best hostel experiences on the Camino, and well worth the walk for travelers and peregrinos.

The quiet setting makes this Refugio a lovely place to reflect, and Orietta and Acacio welcome people with such warmth that it feels like home. The interior is clean and well organized. Dinner is healthy and delicious, offered on a donation basis, and the thoughtful conversations felt cleansing for both body and soul. There are few amenities in this small village, but you can take care of basics like laundry and water at the Refugio. Letting go of some material comforts can bring greater clarity, and on a clear night the countless stars are there for free. Many people walking the Camino de Santiago will have read Paulo Coelho's “The Pilgrimage”. This Refugio inspired his work and has his personal support. I highly recommend resting here for at least a day, even if you need to adjust your schedule or walking distance. May God always bless Orietta and Acacio.

The communal dinner was delicious, and the hosts were amazing. They spoke several languages and made everyone feel welcome. The Refugio is clean and comfortable, with a peaceful, restful atmosphere that really captures what the Camino is about.

As a female pilgrim, I badly needed a toilet, so I went back to the Refugio after being told to ask there. They refused to let me use the bathroom and said there wasn't anywhere else for another 3 km. Sorry to leave a bad review, but I found that quite rude, and it didn't feel much like a “Refugio” to me.

I arrived weary, cold, and pretty shattered, but left the next morning carrying a special part of the Camino with me. At their table, Acacio and Orietta have a real gift for making people from everywhere feel at ease. Thank you for giving me shelter and for sharing that sense of a journey with the people we met and keep meeting along the way.
