Aparthotel Olimar II

We ate out every day, so we can’t say how the buffet lunch or dinner was. Breakfast, though, had lots of options and they kept topping things up. The apartments were clean, roomy, and had AC. There are two pools, a large one about Olympic size and a smaller one that suited babies and toddlers. Families have plenty of activities, and the beach and harbour are a 10-minute walk away. We had a good stay.

The location is great, and the hotel was clean and pleasant. Breakfast was the usual buffet, and the pool was fine, though a little cold. I didn’t like paying extra for WiFi, which I thought was costly, or for a safe key. I’d expect those to come with the room, even at a 3-star place. Late in the season there may not be any entertainment, and anyone after English-focused food and activities may not enjoy it. Neither of those things bothered us.

There are no phones in half the rooms, which worries me in case someone’s health suddenly gets worse and they need to alert the hotel. I’d like the relevant authorities to check whether emergency buttons are available in every room. When my friend became unwell and stopped responding for a long time, I politely asked staff to check on him or call his room. They shouted at me and made me leave, and wouldn’t give me any information. I feel a place like this puts people’s safety at risk and should not be allowed to operate.

My friend and I stayed with our three young boys, who are all half-Spanish, and they loved it. The place is aimed very much at Spanish families, so it may not suit everyone from the UK. It’s close to an excellent beach, and I’d say it works well for young families who speak at least a little Spanish. The rooms and cleaning could be better, and the air con sounded like a jet liner.
