Hotel Viar

The towels and sheets were clean, but even they smelled musty. The room felt shut up, with damp, stale air and a smell like feet that’s hard to describe. At 20 euros I wasn’t expecting luxury, but I did expect to be able to sleep without that awful stench. We also found two spiders and a couple of mosquitoes in the room.

A comfortable room in a quiet spot with a great location. Pretty good.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. The moment you walk in, there’s a musty smell that makes it feel unclean. The shared fridge and microwave are free to use, but both are dirty and stink. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, though the whole area is filthy. There’s a large dog with its bed and toys spread around the dining space, and the bar is cluttered and dirty too. The room felt like something from a horror film. The door jams and has to be forced open. Straight ahead is a staircase, with the bathroom on the left. The bathroom was filthy, with dirt, spiders, dust bunnies, hair, and who knows what else. The towels looked grimy and ancient, each a different size and color. Before the broken stairs, a shower curtain separates the bedroom from the bathroom entrance. Downstairs, the bedroom was dirty too, more like a cell. Its window wouldn’t open for ventilation, and the wardrobe was just a board with a shower curtain. There was a double bed and a single bed. One side of the single bed sat on a small platform, while wooden blocks had been wedged under the legs on the other side to level it. The hotel is old, dated, neglected, dirty, and poorly maintained. The photos on the rental platforms don’t match the rooms. They must be from when the hotel first opened, about thirty years ago. I’m giving it one star because the site won’t let me submit no rating.

We slept wonderfully during this peaceful, convenient stay. The room was spotless and smelled lovely, including the sheets and bedding. The host was attentive, waiting for us at the entrance and looking after us throughout the stay. He also offers several useful services at no extra charge. We’re grateful for such a pleasant experience.
