La Casona de Yaiza

The restaurant was good, and the location made a handy base for exploring the south. The breakfast buffet was set up outdoors, which felt rather chilly in January. The room was basic, with only one wardrobe, Spanish TV and no tea or coffee, just a kettle. There was no heating, though reception brought a fan heater when I asked. Heating would have been useful in January.

A peaceful hotel in Yaiza, with friendly staff, a lovely bodega and restaurant, and nice walks to explore. It has a mix of traditional rooms and newer ones.

We had a really tasty steak, with brilliant service in a beautiful restaurant. You can eat indoors or outside, and the artwork on the walls gives the place a lovely feel. I’d definitely recommend it.

The food was satisfying, and the staff were helpful. They arranged a vehicle for me, which was absolutely necessary for getting around the island. It’s a pet-friendly, family-oriented hostel, and housekeeping stayed on top of things. Though it isn’t central, the bus into the center is easy to catch after a five-minute walk. I had an affordable private room and the amenities worked. The pool and Jacuzzi were closed when I visited, even though it was summer. Dinner and breakfast were available for a small fee charged at the end of the stay. Check-in was a bit confusing because I arrived later and found the gate locked. I contacted someone for help and was worried nobody would come, but someone arrived after about 15 to 30 minutes. All in all, a positive stay.
