Hostal Cataluna

It's an okay spot to sleep for a night. The bedrooms are small and tidy, though not thoroughly clean. I didn't have a proper shower, but the handheld one worked. The bathroom door is rotten along the bottom, the windows barely open properly, and getting the door to lock takes a struggle. Noise is a big problem, and the staff won't help with it. They don't speak English either. My air conditioning wasn't working, and they wouldn't assist. The plugs in my room didn't work, and I couldn't get help with those either. Smoking is prohibited, but some guests ignore the rule and disturb others, while the hostel does nothing about it.

The location is handy, just a few minutes on foot from the attractions. My basic room was comfortable, and everything was clean, bathroom included. A great budget hotel.

It was very cold most of the time. We stayed in January, and there was never any hot water. Heating was only available at night while we were sleeping. The only straightforward positive thing I can say is that it was very clean. The staff seemed disinterested.

The room was disgusting and felt unsafe, with one wall coming apart. There was no usable wifi in the room, and the reception connection felt like 1997. The view was laughable. Staff were usually hiding, asleep, or arguing, and on the rare occasions they appeared, they mostly ignored you in a careless way. All day and night, what felt like a hundred tiny two-legged elephants used all four floors as a playground, exactly what you want during a work training week. There was also an interesting mid-floor scene with refugees sharing one room and looking gloomy outside the entrance 24/7. Looking forward to staying here, #16 victims.
