Hotel Kaia

We came by public transport from Portugalete, taking bus 3321 and getting off at Puerto. The hotel sits in a beautiful spot beside the port, with green hills all around and a couple of restaurants right outside, including its own bar and restaurant. My pre-teen girls and I stayed here during our Camino and had a lovely time. It’s family-run, the rooms are nicely decorated, and the shared space feels really cozy, like a home away from home. The Google pictures don’t quite show how nice it is. Highly recommended.

I drove over before booking and realized I’d stayed here a few years back. Turned the car around pretty quickly and went to the nearest Ibis instead.

A good place to unwind for a couple of nights, with great views and some very good restaurants nearby. There also seem to be plenty of places to explore on foot if you bring your walking shoes. It’s close to tourist spots and other villages, so if you can’t find somewhere in the nearby villages, this is a quality option. It’s very affordable, quiet, and clean, with good amenities and friendly, polite staff. There’s a bar downstairs serving breakfast and lunch, plus tempting pintxos during the day. Plenty of parking, and check-in and check-out are easy. Highly recommended.

Handy location, but parking comes at a premium. The room was really hot, with no fan or air conditioning provided. Outside, the street stayed noisy into the early hours, past 1am.
