The breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of choice and quality ingredients. The lemon cake was especially good. My room was spotless, and the welcome was wonderful. It was also very quiet, and the host was available and friendly. This place gave me everything I hoped for and more. I’d love to come back soon.

The resident goats, horse, and birds give the place a lovely atmosphere, and there’s a charming gym on site too. We found the food delicious. Our stylish room was spacious and spotless, and the gardens are stunning. The host was welcoming as well. We were lucky to find this place and highly recommend it.

We spent two nights here, exploring the coast and its pretty harbor villages, though that wasn’t long enough to do the area justice. San Sebastian and Bilbao are both within an hour’s drive, and we’d love to return. The Urkia apartment was comfortable and well equipped, and would suit a longer stay, with the option to cook for ourselves if needed. The peaceful property has interesting gardens, with lots of pleasing details that clearly had thought put into them. After our long drive through France at the start of a three-week tour of northern Spain, Ramon kindly offered us cold meats, even though dinner wasn’t being served that evening, along with tomatoes from his garden. Both were delicious, as were breakfast and the dinner the next day. Thanks, Ramon, for such a lovely start to our holiday. We want to come back for more.

We felt at home here, and the hosts were so kind to us and our two German shepherds. The calm, peaceful setting was a real pleasure. We loved our apartment, especially the bright room with a fireplace and the large rooms. The family-run hotel has all the amenities we could think of, and both the hotel and restaurant were outstanding. Dinner was made by a passionate chef who cares about using only the best, and the food was excellent. It’s a wonderful spot just a few kilometres from the French border, near San Sebastián. The people running it made the whole experience. I’d happily make it a favorite destination in northern Spain.
