Elilly International Hotel

The room smelled like a sewer, apparently from the toilet, so I started keeping the lid closed. When housekeeping cleaned, the bathroom bin was still full of old tissue. The sink, ceiling, and bed rail were also in terrible shape. I called for an iron half an hour before I needed to leave. After I called back and explained I only had about ten minutes, the person on the phone kept saying “O.K. O.K.” but nobody brought one. My ride arrived twelve minutes later, still with no iron, so I had to go to my event in wrinkled clothes. I also had to call Laundry Services because the front desk didn’t answer after two calls. There was barely any toilet paper left, and no spare roll anywhere in the room or bathroom. I ended up using a Kleanex napkin. After washing my face, I couldn’t find a face towel or hand towel, just one towel for the floor and one to dry off with. The shower head was wrapped around the faucet in a holder, which was fine, but it was covered in hard water stains and filth. With the poor cleaning, smell, and service, I can’t recommend staying here. The hotel needs a complete makeover.

The staff were cordial and helpful, especially Miss Eden at reception. It’s a very good place to stay in Addis Ababa, and they provide free pickup and drop-off from the hotel. The water pressure in the bathroom does need improvement.

I had a really pleasant, peaceful stay and got to relax. Taye Solomon at reception and the rest of his team were especially wonderful and helped make the visit so enjoyable. Thanks for the great service. I hope to visit again.

The staff are wonderful, but the rooms don’t feel like five star rooms, more like two or three. With no air conditioning or even a basic fan, mosquitos are a real problem, and the windows have no screens. Just putting fans in the rooms would help.
