Manuhie Backpackers Lodge

At Manuhie´s place, the staff were welcoming, kind, and helpful, and made me feel at home. It's simple, very clean, and fairly priced. There's a nice garden where you can meet other travelers, or organize a tour with Nati and his friend for a really good price. I never found anything like this in Ethiopia. Stay at Manuhie Backpacker Lodge in Bahir Dar and you'll find everything a traveller haert desires. I'll definitely come back. Thank you for everything.

The meeting area around the coffee pot is a good place to meet great people. This is a typical, simple backpackers. My room had a private bathroom and was sufficient, and mosquito nets were provided. Hot water was available, depending on the time of day. The staff were friendly, though some could be quite pushy, but that’s the touristy culture.

We arrived without a reservation, and it wasn't easy to find. We asked a few people, but nobody knew the place. The manager seemed more interested in his smartphone than us. It's a quiet place with a nice garden, but for the price I expected more appealing rooms. The lodge is about 10-15min walking from the city center and the pier. If you want to stay in that area, I suggest Kitsel Hotel, which is new and modern, with AC and own bathroom for about the same price. For the center, Bahir Dar 2 is an okayish hotel.

The mosquito nets were good, but the rest of the stay was bad. Rooms are arranged around a sitting area, so there's little privacy and a lot of noise. Most rooms don't have a bathroom, and the shared bathroom and shower were wet and gross. Whenever we asked about doing something, the owner tried to sell us something instead of answering. We wanted to take a bus to the falls, but they wouldn't tell us which bus station it left from and only offered a private, overpriced car.
