Had a tasty lunch and friendly service in a lovely countryside priesthouse.

The owners are a really nice couple and will help you find things to see nearby if you get bored in your cozy bed. We enjoyed our stay there, and the shared bathrooms weren’t a problem at all since there are four of them. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, breakfast is fresh and great, and you can tell the owners what you need and they’ll make it work. There’s also a superb Finnish sauna by the lake that you can book in advance. The famous Zoo is nearby too, where you can see pandas. A very nice place if you’re after a proper rest. I can truly recommend it.

The setting by the lake gives you a great view. You can have lunch here or get coffee and delicious cakes. The bed was luxurious, breakfast was delicious, and the sauna is well worth a visit. A great place to stay in Ähtäri.

I call this my happy place. It’s cozy, clean, and friendly, and most of all, the cakes are delicious. They aren’t too sweet, so I don’t feel bad after one slice, or in my case, three. The sauna cabin is lovely. We went from the sauna into the lake, which wasn’t deep near the pier. There’s sand on the bottom, with just a thin layer of mud, so it feels really comfortable underfoot. I’m planning to come back when the panda has a baby. A small note about booking: it took a while because after I picked a room and went to pay, I got an error saying the selection was no longer available and to choose something else, or something like that. I’m glad I didn’t give up, because everything worked out perfectly in the end.
