Scandic Forssa

The location is right in the town center, with nice views and sights within walking distance. There are plenty of nearby places to eat, and parking is free in a large garage. The breakfast was included and good, though not outstanding. Staff were friendly and service was quick. I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious Superior room, which was in good shape. It had a simple Nordic look, lots of white and one stronger-colored wall, along with a bed, sofa, TV, desk and chair. There was also a small fridge with chilled wine as a welcome. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. There wasn’t a double bed, though, just two singles, and the shower felt old-fashioned.

The sauna area was pleasant, with a large jacuzzi, and dinner was good. Breakfast could be a lot more inspiring. It’s a clean hotel in a small town, and the staff were smiling and helpful. If I come to Forssa again, I’d most likely stay here.

The central location in Forssa is convenient, near museums, restaurants and shops. The hotel also has large rooms and offers sauna and jacuzzi use at no extra charge, so I’d been looking forward to the stay. That changed pretty quickly after we arrived. My room was spacious and nice, with a sofa group and a view over the park. But the bed linen had what looked like permanent stains, maybe ink, and the room smelled strongly of sewage and mold. The bathroom made the mold smell obvious: black spots covered the floor and wall tiles. The sewage odor was strong there too. I flushed the toilet and ran water into the shower and basin drains, in case their seals had dried out from disuse, but it didn’t help. I tried to tell the staff. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, but she and her restaurant colleagues clearly had trouble with English, so my message didn’t get across, and nobody tried to fix anything. Given the bathroom’s condition, I didn’t dare use the jacuzzi or sauna. We went elsewhere for dinner too, because several people in my group had dietary restrictions and I didn’t trust that our needs would be understood. We did have a drink at the bar, though. The hotel’s own gin is definitely worth trying.

The staff are very kind, and the breakfast was delicious with a wide selection. The location is convenient, and having a sauna and Jacuzzi is a real bonus. The rooms could use some renovation, and bed changes and fresh towels through room service could happen more often.
