My complaint is about 2ndhomes itself, not necessarily the apartment we booked, "2ndhomes Loft Apartment with Spa & Balcony by the White Church." The code for the key wouldn’t work, though we tried over and over. Their emergency phone went unanswered, leaving us stranded outside at 10:30pm with nowhere to sleep. We ended up in a hotel. This was easily the worst apartment experience of my life. The next day at their office, they insisted the code was correct and denied we’d called the emergency number. We had a video of the code attempts and a screenshot of the call. They said they’d have to investigate, but not until the next Monday, three days away. We’d reserved two nights. 2ndhomes said we could use the apartment on the second night, but wouldn’t refund us if we didn’t. I said we’d stay if they reimbursed the first night and the modest extra hotel expense. They declined, so we stayed in a hotel again. Our stay was meant to begin Thursday 28 September. Now it’s Tuesday 3 October, and nothing financial has been settled. No deposit has come back, no apartment cost for either night has been reimbursed, and the hotel expenses haven’t been covered. I wish I’d checked some Google reviews before booking. We’re very disappointed and sad about the experience, especially given that Finnish culture is known for trust and respect. I believe this is a scam operation. Finnish police or tourist authorities, please investigate if you read this.

The accommodation itself is nice, but the administration is ridiculous. I paid a €200 deposit and, after about a month, still haven’t got it back. They said it would be sent to my account within a couple of days.

I found the apartment really good. It was clean, and the sauna worked perfectly. There’s a bit of wear and tear, but nothing serious. With all the bad reviews here, I don’t understand why this place gets so many.

We paid about 150 euros for a room we never got into, and the money was not refunded. After returning to our country, they even emailed instructions for accessing the room. We didn’t stay there, and I’ve never had an experience this absurd in more than 30 countries, including Africa and India. Don’t get scammed; never choose them. Our booking was for January 23, for me, my mother and father, my wife, and my 8-year-old son. We arrived in Helsinki at about 1 a.m. and found the key office from the email. The email only told us where to collect the key. For hours, we tried to work out where the building was and how to get inside, with no reply to our emails. A courier eventually helped me find the building and floor, around 2:30 a.m. It was freezing, so I left my son and mother in a café open until 5 a.m. The key wouldn’t open the apartment door. My wife, father and I tried repeatedly, and we have security camera footage. By 3 a.m. we were exhausted and went to the Scandic Hotel. When the receptionist heard we had to leave at 6 p.m. to board the ship, she let us wait in the lobby, saying we only had a few hours left. We later left the key in the ticket office box. The receptionist called the 2nd Homes office, but couldn’t reach anyone because it was outside working hours. We returned to our country while this was going on. They wouldn’t admit the mistake or refund us. I paid for a room the key wouldn’t open, and never stayed there. Never choose this place. Finding it with suitcases after leaving the office is a miracle, and getting the key to open the door would be another one.
