Crowne Plaza Helsinki by IHG

I felt very welcome here. The staff were professional, knowledgeable, and helpful, the rooms were clean, and the lounge and other facilities were nice. It’s my hotel of choice when I’m in the area. The lounge did get overcrowded at times, and parking was tight. Driving in from the main street wasn’t straightforward, and it was easy to miss the first turn, though the second turn gets you there too.

Uliane greeted me when I checked in, and she was warm, attentive, and professional. I’d expected the usual “Finnish” customer service, which I’ve found nonexistent, so her approach was a welcome surprise. The room was clean, and overall I had a positive stay and would return. Getting to the hotel by car is a little difficult, and the underground parking is tight if you have a big car. It’s sheltered from the elements, but doesn’t connect to the hotel, so it’s a good idea to leave your suitcases at reception.

My daughter and I had a comfortable, pleasant stay at Crowne Plaza Helsinki. The pool and breakfast were the highlights and made it especially enjoyable. The room lighting was a little too dim for my taste.

The service was awful. Staff made me feel like I was bothering them, even when I was just ordering a meal. Room service delivery cost 20€, or you had to go pick it up yourself, which felt wildly overpriced. For the entire week, cleaners left the soap and conditioner dispensers empty, dishes dirty, and didn’t replace the terrible instant coffee or Lipton Tea. They made the bed and that was about it. This was literally the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, with zero customer service. For what it cost, it should have been miles better.
