The location was very convenient, with Kamppi Helsinki mall, the 24-hour Mc Donald’s, Rock Church, and the Central Train Station all within a five-minute walk. There's a bar directly across the road. Reception is open 24 hours, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. Room access is through a secured lift that needs a room card. The building is nearly 100 years old, but inside it's modern and well renovated, including the facilities, reception, buffet restaurant, lobby bar, rooms, and bathrooms. Separate men's and women's sauna rooms are on the top floor, and there are two luggage storage areas and lobby toilets. Our room, bathroom, bed, and coffee and tea station were clean and had the essentials. There were windows, AC, and heaters in the room. A fridge and microwave are available in the lobby. I'd suggest booking a bigger room with a bigger bed since the difference is only a few euros. It also comes with a bathrobe and slippers for the sauna. The room rate includes a good buffet breakfast, served from 6:30 to 10:30 on weekdays, with different weekend hours. The restaurant also serves lunch for around EUR 13 and up. We tried the popular Japanese curry pork with fried zucchini, brinjal, and potato, made by the Japanese chef, and it was delicious. Many thanks to General Manager/CEO Ms Anu and the helpful staff, including Janni, Salla (with Dorris her cute Dachshund), Johannes, Valtteri, another male colleague, and the Asian-looking lady at the buffet breakfast restaurant. Big appreciation to all of you. You guys are awesome 👍🏻

Thanks for your attention. A couple of things could be better: the walls are very thin and don't keep out much noise, and the coffee is awful, unfortunately, and undrinkable. I'm not much of a breakfast person, so good coffee could really make my morning. Good luck improving these parts of the service! :)

The building has an interesting history, and the hotel itself was cozy and warm. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, and the staff were personable and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and spotless, and Hotel Helka is superbly located in the city centre.

We went to Helka for brunch with friends and my one-year-old son. There are no reservations, but the space is large and we were lucky to get a window seat. It felt cozy, with typical Finnish decor and quality furniture by famous Finnish designers Artek and Aalto. Breakfast ends at 11am, but we accidentally stayed a little longer and nobody rushed us out. The buffet had lots of choices, including pancakes, bacon, maple syrup, waffles, croissants, fresh bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, pulla, and Karelianpiirakka. Salla at reception welcomed us warmly, was kind and smiling, and offered my little one a memory game. A special thanks to her for such a lovely start. I'd highly recommend this place for breakfast in central Helsinki.

I was glad to support what I understand is a locally owned, authentic Finnish business rather than a big chain. The hotel is in a great spot, about a 12-minute walk from the central train station. My room was quiet, comfortable, and clean, with a nice shower and even a balcony. The breakfast buffet was among the best I've had, with plenty of fresh, high-quality options and attentive staff. The front desk team were friendly and accommodating too.
