Hostel Diana Park

The kitchen was probably my favorite part, beautifully designed with lovely colors and walls. The hostel is in a great spot, with everything 10-15 minutes away. They were fine with me arriving late after my flight. My room was clean, the bathroom was big, and there were enough toilets. The one thing I’d change is adding a door to the kitchen so food smells don’t spread at night.

The shared rooms are tight, and apparently there aren’t any lockable drawers. The old building is noisy. Most rooms open onto the hallway, where the reception and open stairway are, and people were still coming and going and talking there until midnight, despite quiet hours being 23-5. I stayed in a 3-bed room and would give the place a solid three stars. On the plus side, it’s a beautiful old building near a tram and within walking distance of the railway station, in a safe, quiet neighborhood. Reception is open 24/7, and the staff are very friendly. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable enough for a few nights, and the shared kitchen, including the fridge, was well equipped. There are board games and puzzles too.

The kitchen and showers were very clean, which was the one positive for me. The sound insulation was really poor: I could clearly hear people next door talking, as well as the showers down the hallway. I didn’t see any bed bugs, but after my third night I woke up with around 7 bites.

I stayed six nights in September 2025 and was glad I picked this hostel. It’s easy to get around from here: the central train station, main shopping area, Kamppi shopping centre for coaches to Porvoo, several tram stops for the harbour and a day trip to Tallinn, and multiple supermarkets are all within walking distance. The desk is staffed around the clock, so I could check in after midnight when my flight arrived late. Staff kept the kitchens and bathrooms clean, and the whole hostel was tidy. They were friendly and welcoming, and kindly stored my bags after checkout. It’s not a party hostel, which suited me. It was a quiet, comfortable place to rest after sightseeing. People weren’t very talkative in the kitchen, but I met some nice people in the dormitory. For Helsinki, the price felt fair for the standard of the accommodation, and I’d definitely stay again.
