Hotel Lilla Roberts

The bar had a relaxed atmosphere, and the service there was fantastic. We didn’t catch the bartender’s name, but he knew his craft and clearly loved it. His cocktails were delicious and made our evening feel extra special. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary at Hotel Lilla Roberts and had a wonderful stay from beginning to end. The welcome was warm and friendly, and our clean, comfortable, beautifully presented room was a great place to unwind after exploring Helsinki. The location also made it easy to see the city on foot. We’d happily stay again and highly recommend it.

The black decor gave the rooms a classic, chic look, and I loved the horse statue in the lobby because it reminded me of my hometown. I spent two nights here, and the location near the harbor is hard to beat. I took a ferry to an island near Helsinki, and most sights were close enough to walk to. There are plenty of souvenir shops nearby too. Everything was great. Don’t miss this hotel!

The breakfast was excellent, and the beds were comfortable. But for what we paid, the stay didn’t match the value or service we expected from Hotel Lilla Robert’s. We arrived with our two-year-old and our room was ready about 15 minutes after the guaranteed check-in time. On its own that wasn’t a big deal, but it set the tone. The lobby seemed poorly maintained, with used cups and trash left out for hours. There were no basic refreshments, like water or coffee, available at check-in. Nobody offered to help with our luggage, so the hotel layout meant navigating several sets of stairs despite there being elevators. As I was pregnant and traveling with a toddler, that was especially difficult. We had reserved two rooms, but one had no coffee machine, and housekeeping didn’t replace the empty toilet paper or tissues. We were also surprised there was no sauna, which seems like a notable omission for a four- or five-star hotel in Finland. With better attention to the service details, this place could be much improved.

The staff were lovely and made our stay feel special. The rooms were modern and clean, with good food and a good location. One small suggestion: say breakfast ends at 9.30 or 9.45, rather than 10am, if staff start vacuuming and asking guests to leave at 10.10 or 10.15.
