Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Helsinki

There was no room service, so I had to go to reception for everything. That defeats one of the main reasons I’d choose a hotel over a private apartment. There weren’t even complimentary water bottles in the room. Tap water may be drinkable, but I’d expect at least a couple of bottles as a basic courtesy. I was also charged €15 to check in one hour early, even though the room was already ready. I’ve never had a hotel anywhere else charge for that, and it felt petty. The service overall was disappointing and unwelcoming. I wouldn’t recommend staying here when there are more hospitable options in the same area. Choose somewhere else.

Nikita made check-in great and upgraded our room, which gave us access to the business lounge and its snacks. The hotel was good value and I’d stay again. It’s in a great spot, not far from the city centre, with the train station and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Our room was clean and nice, though I wish the shower glass were wider because water ended up all over the floor. The TV screen sharing didn’t work.

I was worried about arriving alone so suddenly, but the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable throughout my visit. When my flight was cancelled and I needed an extra night, the front desk understood and found me a lovely room so I could adjust my plans and leave without more stress. I’d originally booked three nights, but ended up staying from January 7th to January 11th, 2026. The hotel is right by the central station, so it was easy to get around by metro or tram. Everyone greeted me with a smile. I arrived exhausted after a suitcase wheel broke during the flight, and one staff member quickly got my room ready and marked on a map where I could get it fixed. I’m sorry I can’t remember her name, but she had long, dark curly hair and glasses. The evening lounge for VIP members had a great choice of drinks and snacks, and the generous breakfast spread made for a relaxed start each day. A huge thank you to the whole team.

My wife’s purse, with her passport, phone and credit cards inside, went missing just as we arrived from the U.S. and saw the busy hotel lobby full of people checking in. We panicked and had to push through the crowd to ask the front desk for help. Hotel manager Christine and her staff handled it quickly and professionally, and within a few hours the purse was back with everything still inside. They were empathetic and effective even while dealing with a rush of their own. I used to work front desk at a WDW resort turning over 200-300 rooms a day, so I know how stressful those busy periods can be. The team deserves credit for being so well hired, trained and treated. Thanks to everyone at the Radisson for helping save our vacation.
