Scandic Grand Central Helsinki

My husband and I love coming back here. The staff are kind and attentive, and the interior is classy, beautiful, and distinctive. I’d particularly recommend a suite with a sauna, a lovely way to thaw out in the Finnish winter. Breakfast is my one criticism. It’s delicious, but there are no pancakes or waffles, or whipped cream, and the buffet rooms can feel a bit chaotic. For travellers, the location is ideal. Just be ready to carry your luggage up a short flight of stairs to the lobby. Lovely hotel and people, and one we’d return to.

The double room was beautifully decorated, well equipped, and sparkling clean, including the toilet. I slept really well in the comfy bed. Staff were helpful and friendly. The reception has a large waiting area and handy luggage storage, plus there’s a bar and restaurant in the hotel. It’s right by Hrlsjnki central station, with public transport close by and shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, and main sights within walking distance. I only stayed one night, but I’d highly recommend it.

I’ve come back for a second stay, and the central location by the train station makes this a great choice if you have things to do in the city centre. The hotel has an old train station feel, and you can almost imagine the smell in the corridors, though the rooms themselves have no odour and are properly air-conditioned. My room was spacious and clean, with plenty of towels and several pillows. I liked being able to adjust the lamp brightness and set the room temperature to my preference. You can request a view of the courtyard, street, or railway station. Just be aware that check-in and check-out can get crowded at certain times.

The hotel feels cozy and stays quiet at night, even though it’s right in the heart of the city. It’s well organized and has all the facilities you need. From this junction of the Grand Ventral Station, it’s easy to get around and enjoy beautiful Helsinki. A great option for travelers, and highly recommended.
