Scandic Grand Marina Hotel

The location worked well for the conference across the street, and the ferry terminal is very close too. It takes around 10-15 minutes to walk into town. The room had basic amenities, and the breakfast selection was decent. Unfortunately, renovation work was going on on my floor during my stay.

We had to change rooms partway through the stay, and the renovations meant the direct route from the lift to the rooms was closed. Finding our way around without clear room-number directions was difficult. There was drilling noise during the day, and the restaurant was closed while major work was underway. We weren’t told about any of this when we booked. Other hotels send an update when usual conditions change.

The gym had enough equipment for me to keep up with my mental health, and it was easy to get amenities late. The place has a calm, sincere atmosphere, and the service staff are friendly. We’ll definitely come back.

The mattress was only about 5-6 cm thick and felt more like a thin blanket, with the springs clearly pressing into my back. The room also had loose cables hanging from the TV, which made it feel poorly maintained and unsafe. It wasn’t clean, the bin liners were just thin paper bags, and the towels weren’t changed. We were there during renovations, so breakfast wasn’t served in the restaurant. Instead, we had to walk to a separate building in freezing weather, which was extremely inconvenient. The staff were polite and the location was good, but the stay was very disappointing and didn’t meet basic hotel standards.
