The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was much better than I expected. For the price, I thought it was a decent choice. Tram and bus stops nearby make it easy to get anywhere in Helsinki. Restaurants and supermarkets are a little farther away, but still within walking distance.

The staff were polite, the room was okay, and breakfast was very good. I’d recommend it. The one problem was the room safe. It wouldn’t open even though I entered the right code. On our last night I panicked because my debit card and spare glasses were locked inside, and we were leaving the next day. The technician was very helpful, though, and got it sorted after several attempts.

The room was small, which was fine, but in the morning nobody at reception answered my call or called me back. It’s a rather confusing little hotel in Helsinki’s Kallio area. It’s also the only chain hotel I’ve stayed at where the front door is locked during the day, probably because of unwanted visitors in the area?

Kallio has a distinctive feel and a great atmosphere, and it was calm and relaxing while we were there. The hotel isn’t in the centre, or what we call the old town, but the central tourist spots are less than 20 minutes away. The price was good, and I think it’s a very good option for students or anyone wanting an affordable, comfortable hotel with breakfast. Our room was spacious, and breakfast was great.

The breakfast was pretty good. We got upgraded to a superior room, though we couldn’t really tell what made it superior. It wasn’t very fancy.
