Solo Sokos Hotel Torni

The location is great, and the building has real history. It could have been a five-star stay if a couple of things were better. The rooms are really nice and the staff pleasant, but on weekends the Yrjönkatu street side gets almost no sleep because nearby nightclubs pump deafening music at teens and post-teens until 4am. There was also construction across the street during the daytime when I wrote this. At checkout, staff said they'd tried reasoning with the nightclub and got nowhere. Since they couldn't fix that, they could still control the room noise with shutters, blinds, or something similar. Breakfast was strange and disappointing for an international hotel. It was okay for two nights, but I wouldn't want it a third time. The cooked options had no potatoes, fried or poached eggs, or baked beans, just two kinds of sausage, rubbery omelet squares, and pancakes. The rest was a weird mix too. They could offer fewer choices and do them better. Thanks, Tuomas, for the nice reply. I'd give it 3.5 stars, really. A shame.

The hotel has a long history, and that comes through in a really positive way. It's a classy, very nice place, right in midtown Helsinki. Breakfast was great, and the staff were polite and helpful.

I stopped by just to use the toilets on the top floor because I'd heard the views were stunning. They lived up to that, though I really hope the glass is one-way 😂

We went to the Rooftop Cocktail Bar for the city views, which were great. It was really busy and not very well organized. Beers and wines were very expensive, so cocktails seemed the best value to me, though the small bar can be slow. If I stayed at the hotel, I'd probably want a more organized way to get seats. The barman forgot our drinks, but once he realized, he gave me some free crisps, which was nice.
