The old school has been turned into a place to stay, with nicely renovated rooms. The former gym class is now a large room with two single beds, and it’s artistically pleasing to look at. That was really the only highlight. It connects to a corridor used for several things: the entrance to a fabric design shop, toilets, a shower, and a kitchen. Having all the facilities available gave it the feel of living on your own, but there were few extras apart from outdoor sports and board games for rainy days. The room is large, but the price is surprisingly high for the limited facilities.

Staying in the school's former gymnasium was perfect. The room is a magnificent space, and its kitchen is incredibly well equipped for making whatever you want. We only wish we hadn’t arrived a week after the Ilomantsi festival, which must be fantastic. The hosts gave us a wonderful welcome and readily shared stories about themselves and the region, helping us discover places we’d never have thought of. A huge thank you to them.
