Hotel Milton

The central location in Jyväskylä and the friendly staff were the good parts of my stay. The room's decor felt very dated and wasn't practical. There were two beds, but the TV was positioned so you could watch it from only one of them. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. I'm celiac, and although I hadn't made the reservation myself, I was told there was no need to request a gluten-free breakfast in advance. On my first morning, all I could find to eat was rice cakes, crackers, boiled eggs, and some salad. With ten kinds of cereal, five breads, non-gluten-free oatmeal, rice pies, and cookies on offer, there was nothing else suitable for me. When I asked, they brought me some bread and the driest muesli I've ever had. It was frustrating to be reminded of everything I couldn't eat when there are usually appealing alternatives in everyday life, including things non-celiacs would enjoy. There are plenty of gluten-free cereals, rice pies, oatmeal, muffins, and cookies available. I ended up buying my own oatmeal and cookies for breakfast on the following days. I also spoke about it with one of the lovely women at reception. She apologized and said she'd discuss it with the others. Thanks for the stay.

The room and the surroundings were both poor, and the view was of a construction site. This doesn't feel like a four-star hotel. I wouldn't choose it.

The staff were really friendly, but the rooms felt too dark. There was grime built up around places like the sink taps and towel rails, which made me wonder about the overall cleanliness.

A budget option in central Jyväskylä, with clean, nice rooms. Breakfast is simple and Wi-Fi is free.
