Hotel Uitonniemi

Evenings were lovely for watching the polar aurora, and the whole place was quiet and peaceful. The rooms were clean and cozy, and everyone can find something at breakfast. The owner was always smiling, very nice, and helpful. We'll remember our stay at this hotel fondly for a long time.

The owners had good suggestions for our day trips, and breakfast was a small but good buffet. The rooms have that classic cabin feel, with all the modern essentials. It's a lovely, calm spot right by the lake.

The cabin was like a two-bedroom flat, with a kitchen, fridge, microwave, and lovely beds. It was the cosiest place we've ever stayed and went beyond what we expected. The views from it were incredible, though the airport is an hour away. The drive is beautiful, even in those conditions. We stayed three days and wished we'd had more time. I'd love to bring my whole family, and we'll recommend it to anyone. Mya, the lovely lady who does breakfast and lots more, was so kind and gentle. She helped us sort out our bus home. The other partner, whose name I've forgotten, was just as great. He took us ice fishing; we didn't catch anything, but being out on a frozen lake was quite an experience. On our last night he cooked us a lovely meal, and he also took us on a husky safari. The dogs were so friendly, loving, and well behaved. Their owner works incredibly hard and the dogs clearly respect her. The other animals were very well cared for too, and so chatty when they wanted attention. It was funny and lovely to see. We also got to cook a sausage over a log fire in a cosy hut, with warm berry juice and cinnamon biscuits. Just perfect. Walking to the little village was easy, with Lidls, pizza and kebab places, local grocery shops, and petrol stations where you can also get burgers, chips, and nuggets to eat in. We found the only pub by the petrol station, though I've forgotten its name. Everyone there was friendly and helpful, with a darts board and locals playing cards. They were very welcoming.

I've stayed in plenty of places in Finland, and this is my favourite. The owner and her aide were friendly, helpful, and did whatever they could to make us feel welcome. They lit the wood sauna for us, cooked a special meal, and were happy to sit and chat and share a funny story.
