The breakfast spread is generous and varied, definitely worth trying. In central Lahti, the hotel also has a restaurant, bar, gym and sauna, with modern facilities that seem to have been renovated fairly recently. Good value if you’re passing through.

The staff were excellent, and the reception area was nice. There’s a good restaurant with an outdoor terrace for summer, and the central location puts the lakes about a ten-minute walk away. They also work hard to be greener.

The old building has had a decent facelift, and the city-centre location is excellent. The garage is really tight.

The breakfast buffet was nicely presented, with a wide range of food for different tastes. Our replacement room was okay, though the shower over the bathtub had such a small screen that using it left the bathroom floor very wet. We’d booked two nights starting Sunday the 20th. Check-in went smoothly and we got a key, but the room hadn’t been cleaned and looked as if someone had used it. At reception, there was a lot of key tapping before the attendant offered us another room. From the way he came across, it sounded like there were barely any clean rooms available.

The sauna was very good, and the breakfast was delicious. Great hotel, with nice staff.
