I had the shared areas to myself, since I was the only person staying in my section. The hostel itself felt typical, cold, and musty, with damp damage. The customer service representative was very friendly, but the service felt less good when he sold booze to the men waiting behind me while I was checking in.

The elderly people who served us were friendly, which was surprising, and that earns the one star. The place felt like a Kaurismäki movie set in the 70s, from the furniture and dishes to the smells and staff, and even the customers seemed straight out of a film. If you’re after a nostalgia trip, go there. Just don’t pay a penny for the food or coffee.
