Hotell Cikada

The breakfast was awful: the bread was stale, covered by a dirty towel, and some slices had mold. The woman working in the breakfast area was coughing over the food. Our room smelled terrible, stayed above 30 degrees Celsius, and had no AC or way to air it out. The hot towel radiator made the tiny room even hotter, and we couldn’t sleep. The towels provided smelled so bad that we used our own. The hotel has no hygiene standards.

The location was good, and the swimming pool was quite nice. The rest of my stay was pretty rough. I was put in an attic room that was stifling, with no AC and awful ventilation. There was hardly any fresh air, and I slept badly. The only way to get some air moving was to leave the room door open, since the window was tiny. Breakfast included moldy bread, and the dining tables were dirty. I took pictures during my stay.

It’s a good value for very little money, with a bit of a homemade feel that you don’t get at chain hotels. My room had a huge modern TV, around 65 inches, and the shower pressure was good, though the temperature fluctuated. The shower was over a bathtub, and there was no fridge in my room. Breakfast was basic but fair for the price, with bacon, eggs, toast, and yogurt. The outdoor pool was nice, and reception was friendly and helpful. It’s a rustic little hotel rather than a luxury resort, but everything worked and the location is handy for the port, a lovely park, and a small boat harbor. Pommern and the naval museum are very close, and the city center is about a 10-minute walk.

The outdoor pool was a nice extra, and every staff member we spoke with was polite and helpful. The room felt dated and had a slight bad smell. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, though nothing memorable, with the usual Nordic selection of cold cuts, cheese, vegetables, yogurt, a couple of hot dishes, coffee, tea, and juice.
