Hotel Savoy

The rooms are a little worn, but the price is still good value. The location is great and the staff are friendly, and an excellent breakfast is included. By excellent, I mean the Scandinavian kind, where pastries usually aren’t part of breakfast.

I had a very good stay at Hotel Savoy, and the staff from Hotel Pommern who also looked after the Savoy were friendly and helpful. The reception team on Thursday afternoon, 07.11.2024, gave top service. One awkward moment came on Saturday morning, 09.11.2024, when I went to the Hotel Pommern reception before my first breakfast there. I asked whether I needed to show or scan my room key before entering the dining room. The young woman just stared at me as if it was a stupid question. I explained it was my first breakfast there and asked how it worked; she stared again, then asked whether I was staying at the Savoy. I said yes, and she told me to go in. As I passed, she openly smirked at her male colleague and laughed with him, about me rather than with me. Being new and wanting to do things correctly isn’t a reason to gossip about a customer. If she couldn’t help herself, she could at least have waited until I’d gone. I also don’t understand why anyone would pay 19 Euro for breakfast when nobody checks whether you’re a hotel guest and it’s given out for free. Still, I’m not taking off a star for one employee. It was a very good experience overall.

It was clean and quiet, and breakfast had plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian choices, though not many vegan ones. There was a building site outside our window, but we weren’t bothered by noise from it. The room had no fridge, so we kept our drinks between the window.

The room was very clean, the staff were friendly, and breakfast had a great range of choices. We had a wonderful weekend at the hotel and would definitely return to Savoy if we come back to Åland. The only small problem was that two of the keys didn’t work.
