Pyry Cottage

The location is good, but the brush has grown so high that it’s starting to hide the view. The cottage could be promising if it got basic cleaning and maintenance. At least Tuisku was filthy and poorly kept, so our holiday started with cleaning: broken glass and dirty floors, balloon bits in the ceiling lights, and food scraps under the cupboards. It looked like a party cottage that had gone months with hardly any cleaning.

The views are great and it’s a nice cottage, but we found used food supplies in the cupboards and the basic cleaning had been neglected. Six people made the living room feel cramped, and every bed was too soft.

The cottage sits in a stunning spot on top of a hill, with views over hills, mountains, and a lake dotted with bays and islands. It has what you need, including verandas with tables on both floors, three bedrooms with two beds each, a fireplace, barbecue, sauna, washing machine, dryer, iron, and kitchen appliances. There’s a toilet upstairs and downstairs too. Wi-Fi is available, though the connection is terrible, so that’s both a plus and a minus. I’d take off a star because there’s no large mirror, just two above the bathroom sinks, and the bedrooms don’t have closets for clothes. The good points outweigh the drawbacks, so I recommend riihivuori cottages. I did find a large mirror in one room, but having it in just one room is inconvenient. That room has a closet too, but what about everyone else?

A cozy, practical cottage at a good price. The decent utility room is especially handy for skiers.
