You can spend a quiet holiday here on a little island in the northern Saimaa archipelago, with a road connecting it to the mainland. I liked being able to sit in peace and watch ships and boats go by. There’s a great swimming beach too, and you can bring your own boat out to enjoy the scenery or fish with a worm along the reeds. Nearby, the bike routes are lovely, and Salpapolku lets you explore wartime defense positions. In the evening, the small beach sauna is a perfect spot to relax before dipping into the refreshing Saimaa water.

The small sauna by the lake is especially lovely, and the cottage saunas have great steam. The owners are friendly, flexible Karelians, and there are bicycles you can use.
