Pandomes Aurora Igloo Hotel

With deep snow and -20 degrees, we had a wonderful one-night stay and would have stayed two nights if we’d had the time. The service was superb, and the 45 euro BBQ easily fed me and my three kids. Walking across the frozen lake at night was amazing. Thanks for a great experience.

Watching the Auroras dance over the lake by a little bond fire was such a lovely evening. The igloo apartments were quiet, cozy, and comfortable, with heavy blankets and a fireplace. We also liked the clean bathroom with its big shower cabin and sauna, and the interesting grilling setup outside. Milda, Thiago, and Ragna were amazing hosts who went out of their way to help and made us feel at home. And the dog is a huge plus, such a cutie, full of energy and always happy to play. Can’t wait to return in winter.

Milda was a great host, always responsive and accommodating. When she found out we were celebrating our 25 years anniversary and my daughter’s birthday, she surprised us with wine and cake. We cooked sausages on the Kota for dinner, then used the sauna and rolled in the snow. The Dome was cozy, with a beautiful snowy forest view. We stayed one night over Christmas and only wished we’d booked longer. It was cloudy, so I didn’t see the Northern Lights, maybe next time. I left my Apple Watch behind by accident, and Milda was more than willing to drive it down to Rovaniemi, where we were waiting for our flight. I can’t thank her enough.

The forest around Pandomes is beautiful, with snowy trees in every direction except the path down to the lake, and the snow crunching underfoot made it feel like a winter wonderland. I stayed four nights in January 2023 and saw Aurora twice. From the armchair, I could even watch through the wooden Igloos’ north-facing window while sipping tea. There’s a lovely sauna and a small place to make a fire by the lake. It’s about forty minutes from the airport and city. Milda picked me up at the airport in their comfortable red Tesla. I added tours too: Santa Village to meet Santa Claus, Pyha and up the mountain for the 2pm sunset and frozen waterfalls, plus a raindeer sledge ride at Tuluka Raindeer Farm. She shared her knowledge of local culture and worked hard to make sure I had a great time. Tiago was brilliant at spotting Aurora Borealis, tracking updates on the peaks and magnetic field and alerting fellow Guests and Aurora Hunters. You can book a tour to hopefully see Aurora without staying overnight. He also took outstanding photos of me under the fully lit green sky. Milda, Tiago, and their lovely dog Ragna made the whole trip feel like a dream. She’s loud but harmless, and soon asks to be petted. I’ll never forget this magical stay, and Pandomes will always have a special place in my heart.
