Santa's Hotel Rudolf

The Chinese restaurant on the ground floor is quite nice. The place is clean, with a roof and a bed, and not far from the city center. But what I paid felt like more than twice what it was worth. For any service, you have to go to the other hotel, which may be hard to reach in winter.

When we stayed on November 8, 2025, we already knew check-in was at the main hotel, so we went there first. The receptionist was helpful and held our luggage while we went straight to Santa Village. After collecting our bags, we headed to the Rudolph. It was different but quaint, and clean enough. No problems, and there were nearby shops where we could get something to eat.

The room was tiny and felt like a hostel. Towels were the only things provided, everything seemed old, and the bathroom smelled. Calling this a 3* hotel at this standard feels like a lie. It's also overpriced for what you get. There is no staff at the hotel, and check-in is at another hotel about 700-800m away. You arrive and aren't sure what to do, then it can take a while to work out you need to walk down the road to check in in Rovaniemi's freezing cold. Please don't book here if you have another choice.

Rooms are small, but clean and practical. Some of the furniture is a bit old, though it's fine if you just need somewhere comfortable to sleep between Northern Lights tours. I stayed for one night, booked through Booking.com, and found the price generally fair for the location, though it changes with the date. It's a solid price-performance option in Rovaniemi for travellers who care more about simplicity and location than luxury. There is no reception on site, so check-in is at Santa’s Hotel Santa Claus, about a 12-minute walk away. That's a bit inconvenient to know about.
