Breakfast was really nice, and the reception guys were funny, friendly and helpful. It’s inside Kuukkeli Shopping center, about a five-minute walk from our room, which was easy enough for us to manage. We really liked the rooms and the private sauna allocated to each room for a set time. A few things, like the inside of the kettle, fridge and sink, could have been cleaner, but it didn’t bother us much. We had such a fun stay, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a room in Saariselkä.

The suite looked beautiful inside, and the complimentary champagne and chocolates were a nice touch. We booked a premium suite for four, but the nearby properties made it hard to find much peace or quiet. Service was just okay, and the toilets and shower were quite small. Heating also wasn’t adequate in every area. There were warning signs everywhere about fines if something went wrong, with very little guidance on how to use the facilities in the first place. The reception was far from the properties, and breakfast was okay. Even in the off season, the price felt high for the service we got.

Breakfast was very good, and the woman at the separate café, a two to three minute walk from the cottages, was supportive and helpful in explaining things. The cottage room was small but very clean, with the basics for a private stay as a couple. Two people fit comfortably, though it wasn’t the Finnish experience we’d hoped for on our trip to see the northern lights.

The check-in directions weren’t right, and the breakfast wasn’t worth getting into. I booked a small room without realizing “small” meant fewer services. There wasn’t even soap in the bathroom, and our sauna time was scheduled before check-in, so it was no use to us. Definitely not worth the price.

The staff were wonderful, and the place had a great atmosphere. We loved the modern furnishings and had what we needed to cook a good meal. The location was ideal, with a bus stop close by, plus bars, restaurants and even bowling within a one-minute walk. A couple of things to know: check-in is a five-minute walk from the room. We stayed in 49, which has a private jacuzzi tub in the bathroom; 48 has the outdoor one and a private sauna. Booking showed two options for 49, but we were told they’re the same, so choose the cheaper one. There’s also a shared sauna, with one hour per room. For 49, our slot was 6:30-7:30 pm. Breakfast was basic, with powdered eggs, sausage, limp bacon, cucumber, tomatoes and bread, but the salmon was really delicious. Highly recommend!
