A horror of a night in a former student home. The mattress was dirty and yellow, as if it had been there for 70 years. Watch out if you book through booking. The staff want you to pay extra for the sheets even though you booked a regular room.

We stayed overnight in the old school accommodation on the hostel side. The rooms were clean, and you can rent sheets for the night. The mattress and blanket smelled musty, and in the morning the nightgown smelled musty too. The kitchen, toilet and washing facilities are in the hallway. Breakfast is served in the old renovated main building. It’s an old school and research station converted into accommodation, with good, affordable rooms. I can recommend it.

Everything worked like in Strömsö! Our group of 10 had a great time. The rooms were clean and charming, breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and there was even a sauna. One of our group went swimming in Suonte.

Customer service is really good and flexible, and the varied breakfast is included in the price. It’s a cozy place to stay, with plenty of rooms for larger groups of 4-5. The apartments have cozy common areas and a kitchen with good-quality dishes, plus a dishwasher. There’s also a sauna and a beach pier, with SUP boards and a trampoline. I recommend Maamies to anyone passing through Suonenjoki.

Really friendly service, and the breakfast was cheap and tasty. There are lovely details in the rooms and common areas. The place looks a bit institutional overall, but that actually makes it more interesting...
