Omena Hotel Tampere

The stay was okay overall, but the room problems were annoying. The TV didn’t work in our first room, so I called customer service and got moved. The next room had a broken fridge, which was replaced quickly. Chromecast still didn’t work, though thankfully Miracast did.

The room was fairly spacious and the bathroom light was bright enough for me to do my makeup easily. The location was really good, and having a little fridge and microwave was a plus. There was no remote control, so the TV was useless to us. The walls were thin and I could hear everything from the hall and other rooms. There were stains on the table, floor, bathroom and shelf, with dust almost everywhere. Having no reception or anyone available to help was really bad.

The location is good and the room was spacious, but it stank of sewage. Opening the bathroom door made us feel sick, and it was practically unusable. We arrived close to midnight and messaged the hotel because check-in is self-service, but no one ever replied. It wasn’t worth the money.

Public transport is easy to use from here, with all the options nearby. You can pay with a credit card or Apple/Google Pay using NFC, and check-in worked perfectly. The room and hallways were tidy and clean, with cleaners around every day. In the room there was a microwave, kettle, hairdryer, minibar fridge and a Philips flat 32" TV. The channels sometimes hiccuped. The bathroom had a heated floor and bidet, and the sink and toilet seat were lower than usual, which makes them easy for children to use. The all-purpose liquid soap was surprisingly good. For breakfast or brunch, it’s better to go to a nearby restaurant such as Puisto, which has quite a large selection. For lunch, Tillikka is an option if you want the real thing without excessive chitchat. There are cafes all over the city. At night, some muffled sound came through the AC from neighboring rooms. Still, the hotel was reasonably priced and more than adequate for a four-day visit.
