Omena Hotel Turku Humalistonkatu

Four of us were left stranded with heavy luggage, unable to check in, and eventually had to take a bus back because we had nowhere to stay. Although Agoda had already charged us for the room, no check-in instructions or codes ever arrived. The hotel says it offers 24/7 customer service, but I called dozens of times and nobody picked up. Absolutely terrible experience.

The hallways have a prison-like feel, but the room itself was quiet, with no reception noise, and utterly perfect for a cheap hotel. The linen was crisp, the pillows were surprisingly good, and the tea and coffee bar was fully stocked. There was also a fridge, microwave, and TV that worked well. I hadn't expected much for the price and star rating, but this was well done!

It's 5am and I've been awake for two hours after other guests woke me for the second night in a row. This time someone spent ages throwing chairs around in their room. Now someone is banging on a door a few doors down, and somebody upstairs has dance music on. There seems to be zero regard for noise at any time, which is definitely a problem. The room's fine, but it feels like a staff break room mixed with a student common room, with a bed stuck in the corner. The TV switches itself off after a minute, which is a shame because I wanted to watch the Olympics. The fridge is nice to have, but it doesn't get very cold. The freeze-dried coffee sachets were decent, a welcome perk. The elevator is 50 years old and painfully slow. It really needs an upgrade with all the staff they're not paying. The fluorescent white lights are harsh, and the windows don't open, so there's no way to air out the room. Our window looks into an alley, I guess. It's always dark even when it's sunny. Honestly, I can't recommend this place even for a night's sleep. Pay a bit extra and stay somewhere else.

My loft was tucked into a corner of the building, so it was really quiet. The red staircase split the suite into two levels, with the sofa and shower below and the bed upstairs. The location is great, but check-in was a hassle because I never received my code after booking. I had to call support from the door, though they sorted it out well. The room was dusty, including behind the stairs, and the desk wobbled. Nothing felt especially high-end, but that’s about what I expected from Omenahotel.
