Beqa Lagoon Resort

Our guide Jay made the trip especially memorable. He took us snorkeling and kayaking, showed us the local village schools, and brought us into Suva to see the Museum and craft market and have a great lunch. He knew so much about island culture, sea life, and reef restoration, and was both caring and entertaining. The room, food, and activities were all stellar. A local Dive Shop arranged the booking, and I came along with my daughter. It was the best vacation of my life, and I highly recommend the resort.

I don't usually go for resorts, but I joined an organized diving group here and really enjoyed my stay. It's relaxed and friendly, with a low-key feel, and the staff make a real effort to help. The dive centre next door is very well run, with great local shark dives as well as trips to soft corals and swim-throughs. The resort also has local culture and heritage shows, plus village visits, with more options available for a fee. A lovely place with a welcoming atmosphere, and one I'd recommend.

The reef dives were spectacular, full of vibrant, healthy marine life. We skipped the Cathedral shark dive and didn't manage to do the Apex dive, but the diving we did get in was a highlight of our four nights here, with six boat dives each. Our two-bedroom suite was spotless, roomy, and really comfortable. We loved the couch and chair so much we joked about getting the same set at home. With two full bedrooms and generous living space, it would work well for a family or group of four. Meals and drinks were very good throughout. The menu was smaller than at another resort we visited in Fiji, but it seemed to help cut down on food waste, which we appreciated. Beqa Lagoon Resort is clearly set up with divers, especially shark divers, in mind. We had a wonderful stay and would very likely come back if we dive in Fiji again.

Even with difficult weather, both dive crews found good sites and were professional and helpful. I went out on two boats with different teams, and they were great. Ravu, Tusi, sivi, Captain Joe, and Tom were great, and Jerry, Frazier, and Nix were helpful too. Captain Pee did a great job as well. On the night dive, junior and Gun guided us safely and found lots of creatures. The whole experience was excellent, with friendly, capable guides, captains, and crew. The staff were incredibly welcoming and clearly worked hard to make sure we had a good time.
