Hotel Novotel Suva Lami Bay

The bay view from my clean, upgraded room was beautiful, and reception were attentive and accommodating while I was there for a wedding. I had a much harder time getting service at the restaurant and bar. Staff were slow to take orders and difficult to get the attention of, so I usually had to go to the bar myself. Everyone else I dealt with at the hotel was great.

The breakfast was enjoyable, and the Kokoda was exceptional. Staff were friendly, and the location is lovely, with different colors in the sky as a backdrop on a beautiful day. The welcome was a letdown, though: we arrived at 4pm and the room still wasn't ready. I also had to remind staff to split the Queen bed. I had booked split beds, but the confirmation email still showed Queen bed, so that mismatch could be fixed on the website.

Friendly staff, but the hotel feels old and run-down, and the carpets smell awful. The Bay view looks good in photos, yet a bad smell at dusk made the balcony hard to enjoy. Breakfast choices are limited. Charging Diamond members $7 for coffee seems absurd, and this doesn't feel up to 4* hotel standards.

The nanny we arranged through the hotel was the real highlight. Our 11month old was loved and dotted on, what a gem. We were blown away once we stepped into Novotel Lami Bay, even though my husband had questioned my booking as we drove up. It's sensationally located, if a bit isolated from touristy things, and the staff are 10/10. We're so appreciative 🙏 ❤️
