Lagoon Resort

Breakfast was the standout for us. It was a set meal brought by waiters rather than a buffet, which we preferred. The bread changed a little each day and the homemade multigrain loaf was very good. There was also fruit and pastry, plus a choice of egg preparation, although an omelet cost extra. The restaurant's lunch and dinner were decent, with generous portions at reasonable prices. The hotel is isolated and very quiet at night, with only private properties nearby. The beach is about 2km away and reachable on foot, though the route has some ups and downs. Staff were generally nice and helped carry luggage because the upper-floor rooms have no elevator. The Lagoon view was peaceful, and the room had a new-looking TV and very good WiFi. Most of the property, though, was in very poor condition: worn and broken furniture, a dirty and broken toilet, and a shower head that barely let water through. Many pool tiles were missing, and there were only four broken sunbeds for the whole resort. Given the price in the Pacific Harbor area, you get what you pay for.

The food tasted good and the service was good, but the restaurant was overrun with ants. They kept getting onto my cup, fork, and plate. The pool itself was nice, though it didn't seem set up for guests: the chairs had no cushions, and staff couldn't say where the pool towels were. The location was okay, right beside the river. Our room was practically in the lobby. The sheets had stains, the walls were cracked, the ceiling outside was coming down, and the bathroom shower leaked. The whole resort badly needed renovation. We left after our first night.

We found the staff warm and welcoming, especially the restaurant team. The hotel has a charming colonial style, and we had a wonderful stay. Our room overlooking the river was clean and comfortable, with a TV that had Netflix and YouTube. Breakfast was included: scrambled eggs, potatoes, beans, toast with butter, some fruit, and coffee or tea. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner at fair prices, and the food was tasty. They have daily specials too, such as prawns for FJD 11. There is one swimming pool on the property. Pacific Harbour center is around a 25-minute walk away, or a 3-4 minute drive.

We were put in a room overlooking the pool, and nobody told us there'd be an all-night pool party. Music, singing, and shouting went on until 8:30am, so we got no sleep. We demanded a refund and checked out after one night. At breakfast, the bread was mouldy and food ran out without being replaced. There were ants in the bathroom, and the shower flooded the whole floor.
