DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji - Sonaisali Island

The babysitting service was one of the best parts of our family holiday. It gave us a chance to relax, and the staff took such kind, attentive care of our baby. It’s hard to put into words how much that meant to us. My wife, our son, and I stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Sonaisali Island Resort from 20th February to 24th February 2026. It’s in a beautiful, peaceful spot, and the staff throughout the resort were warm and genuinely helpful. Their hospitality made the stay feel special for us. We did have a rough start. The room service food on check-in day wasn’t properly cooked. We raised it the next day, and the team dealt with it professionally. From then on, things improved a lot, and the food for the rest of our stay was excellent. Despite that first problem, we had a fantastic time as a family. We’d definitely recommend the resort for a relaxing, family-friendly holiday.

The food was the main letdown. It looked fine, but the flavours were very bland. Better seasoning and more variety could make dining feel more in keeping with the lovely setting. We also had to be patient with the service, which was slow at times. Maybe that’s just “Fiji time,” but on a few occasions the tables had cutlery missing or the wrong cutlery, and that should be checked ahead of time. The property itself is beautiful and well cared for, and our room was clean and maintained nicely. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived, which made us feel comfortable. We had a pleasant stay, though faster service and better food would make a real difference.

Anu made a lovely impression on us. She greeted us with a warm smile when we arrived, offered to take our photo, and said hello whenever we ran into her. Her friendliness added a lot to our stay. The kids’ favorite part was the boat ride. The resort is also conveniently close to the city centre, airport, and major tourist attractions. We liked the modern room and its subtle cultural touch, though the walls seemed thin. We could hear the neighbours making noise around midnight, which disrupted the children’s sleep. The food was average overall, and breakfast had limited variety. In-room dining portions felt a bit small. The kokoda from the poolside dining was the most watery we’ve had in Fiji, while the ribs at Tavu Bar & Grill were decent but nothing special.

The care from the team made this stay memorable. During a meat-themed buffet dinner, my husband and I weren’t sure what vegetarian options would be available. Chef Nilesh came over, asked about our preferences, and within 15 minutes made us a fresh, delicious vegetarian thali. The thoughtfulness meant as much as the food. Chef Nilesh, Chef Singh, and the whole team made sure guests left the dining area happy and satisfied. Thank you for such a kind gesture. We had the breakfast and dinner buffet package, and the meals exceeded our expectations. Each day had a different theme, which kept things exciting. Sala and Margaret at the front desk were calm, pleasant, and welcoming. When the internet service was having trouble, they arranged a separate bungalow so we could stay comfortable in the heat. Thank you for looking after us, and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. The spa was deeply relaxing and professionally done. Thanks to Bereta and the spa team for the rejuvenating treatment. The landline phone and internet services were disrupted, but the IT department and electrical engineering team resolved the issue promptly. Later, when I mentioned there were no TV channels and it was too hot to take the kids outside, they arranged an upgraded TV with multiple channels so the children could stay comfortable and entertained. Ravi, Amit, Jesneel, Chanel, and Pritesh from the IT engineering team gave excellent support, and I’m grateful to all of them. Even in the hot season, the staff welcomed us with smiles and made the trip feel cool, calm, and joyful.
