The Cake Store Guesthouse

The place was affordable at 65 euros a night in May 2025, and its location is incredible, right by central Torshavn. There's an eight-hour parking lot 50 meters away and a two-hour lot even closer. With a little investment, such as a microwave, curtains, a blank electrical cover panel, and a kettle, it could be a fine budget place in an otherwise very expensive area. The converted office suite setup didn't bother me in itself, though some rooms are still used as offices. Check-in was automated and smooth. I expected the room to be tiny, and it was clean, with a comfortable bed. But the blinds didn't cover the full window and there were no curtains, a real problem in summer when the sun barely sets. I rigged up a fix with a duvet salvaged from an empty room and my suitcases in front of the window. The bathroom was clean, but the shower was a hose diverted from the sink, presumably because the office bathroom hadn't been built with a shower. There was an electrical outlet inside the shower. I was very hesitant to use it and did so carefully. The kitchen was clean but amounted to a table and mini fridge. There was no hot plate, microwave, plates, or kettle. Some of those things were on the second floor, but I wasn't sure I was meant to use them. There was a balcony area, and both the radiator heat and hot water worked fine.
