The restaurant was the highlight: the rosti at dinner was the best I’ve ever had, just right after a long day of walking. The Campari and soda was good, the wine very nice, and breakfast the next morning was great. This is a family-run hotel, and they really care about their guests. I wish more places were like it. We stayed in August 2024 while doing a section of the TMB, after failing to find a place closer to the trail. We lucked out with Les Touristes and its wonderful mountain hospitality. They offered to pick us up from the trail end for far less than the eye-watering taxi quote, then drove us back to the trail the next day. The hotel is the cutest thing, with a full 70s retro look. Rooms are simple, impeccably clean, and come with a jug and tea and coffee supplies. Even though it’s on the frontiere with the train and expressway outside, it was quiet. I slept like a baby, one of those rare babies who actually sleeps through the night.

At dinner, my French-speaking local friend asked in French for a vegetarian meal for one of our two guests, but meat was served anyway. The waitress kept intruding on our meal without being helpful.

The location is ideal for the Essert and La Chapelle d’Abondance ski areas, and for exploring nearby. We’ll be back. The welcome was warm, and the staff were professional and courteous. Special thanks to Sabrina, who worked throughout our stay to make it as pleasant as possible. Thanks as well to the chef for the wonderful meals: a cuisine to discover, specialties to devour, and a cheerful atmosphere from breakfast onward. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic!
